Pat Adlen tells the story of the 1980‘s Skelmersdale Food Cooperative. A trade union response to  mass unemployment and poverty, the initiative provided cheap food, training, and personal development, and aimed to build self-reliance within the community. As Pat says, ‘It opened up the world for me. It was absolutely amazing.’
